Origin
The dry ripe seeds of annual herbaceous plant Perilla frutescens (L.) Britt of family Labiatae.

紫苏子概述(降气消痰 平喘 润肠)
为唇形科植物紫苏的干燥成熟果实，紫苏原产中国，中国两千年前解释词意的专著《尔雅》中就有紫苏的记载。喜温暖湿润气候，以疏松、肥沃、阳光充足的地方最宜生长。
紫苏全株均有很高的营养价值，它具有低糖、高纤维、高胡萝小时素、高矿质元素等；
含有挥发性的紫苏醛等芳香物质，民间常用其去腥、增鲜、提味。
紫苏子各家论述

紫苏子性状
【性味】 味辛，性温。
【归经】 归肺经。
呈卵圆形或类球形，直径约1.5mm。表面灰棕色或灰褐色，有微隆起的暗紫色网纹，基部稍尖，有灰白色点状果梗痕。果皮薄而脆，易压碎。种子黄白色，种皮膜质，子叶2,类白色，有油性。压碎有香气，味微辛。
