薤白概述
为百合科植物小根蒜或薤的干燥鳞茎，夏、秋二季采挖，洗净，除去须根，蒸透或置沸水中烫透，晒干。《本草图经》记载：“凡用葱、薤，皆去青留白，云白冷而青热也，故断赤下方取薤白同黄柏煮服之，言其性冷而解毒也。”
薤白各家论述
《本草求真》记载：“薤，味辛则散，散则能使在上寒滞立消；味苦则降，降则能使在下寒滞立下；气温则散，散则能使在中寒滞立除；体滑则通，通则能使久痼寒滞立解。是以下痢可除，瘀血可散，喘急可止，水肿可敷，胸痹刺痛可愈，胎产可治，汤火及中恶卒死可救，实通气、滑窍、助阳佳品也。”
薤白性状
【性味】 味辛，苦，性温。
【归经】 归肺，胃，大肠经。
干燥鳞茎，呈不规则的卵圆形，大小不一，上部有茎痕；表面黄白色或淡黄棕色，半透明，有纵沟与皱纹，或有数层膜质鳞片包被，揉之易脱；质坚硬，角质，不易破碎，断面黄白色。有蒜臭，味微辣。
