为蔷薇科植物委陵菜的带根全草，5-10月采挖，除去泥沙，晒干。

据《贵阳民间药草》记载：“清热解毒；主赤白痢下，风湿疼痛，瘫痪。”
委陵菜性状
【性味】 味苦，性寒。
【归经】 归肝、大肠经。
根呈圆柱形或类圆锥形，略扭曲，有的有分枝，表面暗棕色或暗紫红色，有纵纹，粗皮易成片状剥落，根头部稍膨大，质硬，易折断，断面皮部薄，暗棕色，常与木部分离，射线呈放射状排列。叶基生，单数羽状复叶，有柄；小叶狭长椭圆形，边缘羽状深裂，下表面及叶柄均密被灰白色柔毛。气微，味涩、微苦。
