别名 八角梧桐、山梧桐、臭桐柴、楸茶叶、后庭花
马鞭草科大青属植物海州常山的嫩枝及叶，春秋采根及茎，开花前采叶，晒干。
生于山坡灌丛中。分布于华北、华东、中南、西南等地。

据《纲目拾遗》记载：“洗鹅掌风、一切疮疥，煎汤洗汗斑，湿火腿肿久不愈者，同庵闾子浸酒服。并能治一切风湿，止痔肿，煎涌服，治臁疮，捣烂作饼，加桐油贴，”
臭梧桐性状
【性味】 味苦，微辛，性平。
【归经】 归肝，胆，脾经。
干燥小枝类圆形，或略带方形，棕褐色，具黄色点状皮孔，密被短柔毛。叶卵形或椭圆形，上面灰绿色，背面黄绿色，具短柔毛，叶片多皱缩、卷曲，或破碎；叶柄密被短柔毛。花多已枯萎，黄棕色，有长梗，雄蕊突出花冠外；已结实者，花萼宿存，枯黄色，
内有果实一枚，灰褐色，三棱状卵形，有皱缩纹理，枝叶质脆易折断，小枝断面黄白色，中央具白色的髓，髓中有淡黄色分隔。有特异臭气，味苦而涩。
