银柴胡概述
为石竹科植物银柴胡的根，9-10月采挖，除去茎、叶及须根，洗净，晒干。
喜温暖、冷凉气候，具有耐旱、耐寒、喜光、忌水渍的特性，多生于海拔1200米左右荒漠草原地带，或灌丛天然林地，悬岩的石缝或碎石中。《本经逢原》：“银柴胡，其性味与石斛不甚相远。不独清热，兼能凉血。《和剂局方》治上下诸血龙脑鸡苏丸中用之。凡人虚劳方中，惟银州者为宜，若用北柴胡，升动虚阳，发热喘嗽，愈无宁宇，可不辨而混用乎！按柴胡条下，《本经》推陈致新，明目益精，皆指银夏者而言，非北柴胡所能也。”

《本草求原》记载：“清肺、胃、脾、肾热，兼能凉血。主五脏虚损，肌肤劳热，骨蒸烦痛，湿痹拘挛。”
银柴胡性状
【性味】 味甘、苦，性凉。
【归经】 入肝、胃经。
根呈类圆柱形，表面淡棕黄色或浅棕色，有扭曲的纵皱纹及支根痕，多具孔穴状或盘状凹陷，根头部略膨大，有密集的呈疣状突起的芽苞、茎或根茎的残基，质硬而脆，易折断，断面不平坦，较疏松，有裂隙，皮部甚薄，木部有黄、白色相间的放射状纹理，气微，味甘。
