芦根概述
为单子叶植物禾本科芦苇的根茎，全年均可采挖，除去芽、须根及膜状叶，鲜用或晒干。始载于《别录》，列为下品，《药性论》记载：“能解大热，开胃，治噎哕不止。”
芦根各家论述
《本草经疏》记载：“芦根，味甘寒而无毒。消渴者，中焦有热，则脾胃干燥，津液不生而然也，甘能益胃和中，寒能除热降火，热解胃和，则津液流通而渴止矣。客热者，邪热也，甘寒除邪热，则客热自解。肺为水之上源，脾气散精，上归于肺，始能通调水道，下输膀胱，肾为水脏而主二便，三家有热，则小便频数，甚至不能少忍，火性急速故也，肺、肾、脾三家之热解，则小便复其常道矣，火升胃热，则反胃呕逆不下食及噎哕不止；伤寒时疾，热甚则烦闷；下多亡阴，故泻利人多渴；孕妇血不足则心热，甘寒除热安胃，亦能下气，故悉主之也。”
芦根性状
【性味】 味甘，性寒。
【归经】 归肺、胃经。
呈压扁的长圆柱形。表面有光泽，黄白色，节部较硬，显红黄色，节间有纵皱纹。质轻而柔韧，不易折断，气无，味微甘。均以条粗壮、黄白色、有光泽、无须根、质嫩者为佳。
