铁包金概述
为鼠李科植物铁包金及光枝勾儿茶的茎藤或根，全年可采。因该品种根的栓毛呈褐色似铁，木质部色黄似金，故名铁包金。一般生长在低海拔的山野、矮林、路旁、坡地及丘陵。

据《福建民间草药》记载：“祛风湿，解毒；主痔疮，脱肛，乳痈，风湿痛，风毒流注。”
铁包金性状
【性味】 味苦，微涩；性平
【归经】 归心、肺经
干燥根圆柱状，粗细不一，商品多锯成小段或切成厚片。栓皮结实，黑褐色或棕褐色，有网状裂隙及纵皱。质坚硬，断面本部甚大，质纹细致，暗黄棕色至橙黄色。
