别名 石燕子、大石燕、燕子石
为古生代腕足类石燕子科动物中华弓石燕及近缘动物的化石。采得后洗净泥土
作为中药用的化石中，除龙骨外，石燕恐怕也是最普通的了。形似燕，其实石也。性凉，无毒。

据《纲目》记载：“疗眼目障翳。石燕性凉，乃利窍行湿热之物。”
石燕性状
【性味】 味甘，咸，性凉，无毒。
【归经】 归肾，肝，膀胱经。
似完整的瓦楞子状，略呈肾脏形而扁，表面青灰色至土棕色，两面中央隆起，具银杏叶般的纹理。其中一面在隆起的中部有一纵沟，一端较细向另一端展开，细端向下弯曲作鸟喙状，在其下面亦有一条横沟通向两侧。质坚如石，不易破碎；砸碎后，断面呈青灰色至棕色，或有部分为白色碎石堆集成颗粒状。气微，味淡。
