白头翁概述
为毛茛科植物白头翁的干燥根。春、秋二季采挖，除去泥沙，干燥。
《药性论》记载：“止腹痛及赤毒痢，治齿痛，主项下瘰疬。主百骨节痛。”
白头翁各家论述
《本经逢原》记载：“白头翁，《本经》言苦温者，传写之误也。其治温疟狂易寒热等症，皆少阳、阳明热邪固结之病，结散则积血去而腹痛止矣。”
白头翁性状
【性味】 味苦，性寒。
【归经】 归胃、大肠经。
根长圆柱形或圆锥形，稍弯曲，有时扭曲而稍扁，长5-20cm，直径0.5-2cm。表面黄棕色或棕褐色，有不规则的纵皱纹或纵沟，中都有时分出2-3支根，皮部易脱落而露出黄色木部，且常朽蚀成凹洞，可见纵向突起的网状花纹；根头部稍膨大，有时分叉，顶端残留数层鞘状叶柄基及幼叶，密生白色长绒毛。质硬脆，折断面稍平坦，黄白色，皮部与木部间有时出现空隙。气微，味微苦涩。以条粗长，质坚实者为佳。
