为白花丹科白花丹属植物白花丹的全草或根，全年均可采，切段晒干可或鲜用。
白花丹各家论述
广州部队《常用中草药手册》记载：“祛风除湿，散瘀消肿。根：主风湿骨痛，陈旧性关节扭伤，心胃气痛。”
白花丹性状
【性味】 味辛，苦，涩，性温；有毒
主根呈细长圆柱形，略弯曲，上端着生多数细根，表面灰褐色或棕黄色。
茎圆柱形，有分枝，表面黄绿色至淡褐色，节明显，具细纵棱；质硬，易折断，断面皮部呈纤维状，淡棕黄色；中间呈颗粒状，淡黄白色，髓部白色。
叶片多皱缩破碎，完整者展平后呈卵形或长圆状卵形，上面淡绿色至黄绿色，下面淡灰绿色至淡黄绿色；穗状花序顶生，萼管状，被有柄腺体，花白色至淡黄色。气微，味辛辣。
