为毛茛科植物石龙芮的全草，在开花末期5月份左右采收全草，洗净鲜用或阴干备用。
性喜热带、亚热带温暖潮湿的气候，野生于水田边、溪边、潮湿地区，忌土壤干旱，在肥沃的腐殖质土中生长良好。
石龙芮各家论述
据《本草汇言》记载：“石龙芮，补明精，祛风燥之药也。凡相火炽盛，阴躁精虚者，以此充入诸滋补药，服食甚良，故《本草》主风寒湿热成痹，有润养筋脉之功，主补肾益精明目，有育嗣延龄之妙，古方多用之。”
石龙芮性状
【性味】 味苦，辛，性寒，有毒。
【归经】 归心，肺经。
疏生短柔毛或无毛，基生叶及下部叶具长柄，叶片肾状圆形，棕绿色，茎上部叶变小，聚伞花序有多数小花，花托被毛；萼片船形，外面被短柔毛；花瓣狭倒卵形。聚合果距圆形；瘦果小而极多，倒卵形，稍扁，气微，味苦、辛，有毒。
