为桔梗科兰花参属植物蓝花参的根或全草，7-10月采收，晒干。生于路边、石坎、沙地或石缝间。

据《湖南药物志》记载：“补脾胃，益肺肾，祛痰，杀虫，止血。”
兰花参性状
【性味】 味甘，微苦，性平。
【归经】 归脾，肺经。
根细长，稍扭曲，有的有分枝，表面棕褐色或淡棕黄色，具细纵纹，断面黄白色；茎丛生，纤细；叶片多皱缩，展开后呈条形或倒披针状匙形，灰绿色或棕绿色，花单生于枝顶，浅蓝紫色，蒴果圆锥形，种子多数，细小，气微，味微甜，嚼之有豆腥气。
