为豆科植物狭叶番泻或尖叶番泻的小叶，为刺激性泻药，通过肠粘膜和神经从刺激肠蠕动，属于猛药，建议尽量少用。

番泻叶性状
【性味】 味甘、苦，性寒。
【归经】 归大肠经。
小叶片多完整平坦。卵状披针形至线状披针形，长2-6cm，宽0．4-1．5cm；主脉突出，叶端尖突出成棘尖，全缘，基部略不对称，上面黄绿色，下面浅黄绿色，两面均有稀毛茸，下表面主脉突出，羽状网脉。叶片革质，气微弱而特异，味微苦而稍有粘性。
