Origin
The mature fruit of annual herb Cnidium monnieri (L.) Cuss. of family Umbelliferae.

蛇床子概述(温肾壮阳 燥湿 祛风 杀虫)
别 名蛇床实、蛇床仁、蛇珠、山茴香、山胡萝卜子
为伞形科植物蛇床的干燥成熟果实。夏、秋二季果实成熟时采收，除去杂质，晒干。
《本草新编》记载：“蛇床子，功用颇奇，内外俱可施治，而外治尤良。若欲修合丸散，用之于参、芪、归、地、山萸之中，实有利益，然亦宜于阴寒无火之人，倘阴虚火动者，服之非宜。”

《日华子本草》记载：“主暴冷，暖丈夫阳气，助女人阴气，腰胯疼，阴汗湿癣，四肢顽痹，赤白带下，缩小便。”
蛇床子性状
【性味】 味辛、苦，性温；有小毒。
【归经】 归肾经。
为双悬果，外观呈椭圆形，由2分果合成，长约2毫米，直径约1毫米，表面灰黄色，顶端有2枚向外弯曲的宿存花柱基，分果背面略隆起，有2条棕色略突起的纵线，其中有一条浅色的线状物；果皮松脆，剖开后里面有细小的种子，灰棕色，有油性；闻之气香，口尝味辛凉而有麻舌感。
