据《本草经疏》记载：“阳起石，补助阳气，并除积寒宿血留滞下焦之圣药，故能主崩中漏下，及破子脏中血，癥瘕结气，寒热腹痛，及男子茎头寒，阴痿不起，阴下湿痒。真阳足，则五脏之气充溢，邪湿之气外散，故久服不饥并去臭汗也。”
阳起石性状
【性味】 味咸，性温。
【归经】 归肾经。
为长柱状、针状或纤维状集合体，呈不规则块状、扁长条状或短柱状，大小不一。白色、浅灰白色或淡绿白色，具丝样光泽。体较重，质较重，质较硬脆，有的略疏松。可折断，碎断面不整齐，纵面呈纤维状或细柱状。气无，味淡。
