为旌节花科植物喜马拉雅旌节花、中国旌节花的干燥茎髓。秋季割取茎，截成段，趁鲜取出髓部，理直，晒干。生于海拔500～2900m的山坡林中或林缘阴湿外。喜光照，稍耐阴，适应性强，较耐寒，在排水良好的沙质土壤或轻质粘壤土中生长最佳。
