为浮萍科植物紫萍或浮萍的全草，6～9月间捞取，晒干。

据《日华子本草》记载：“主热毒风热疾，热狂，熔肿毒，烫火疮，风疹。”
浮萍性状
【性味】 味辛，性寒。
【归经】 归肺经。
叶状体呈卵圆形或卵状椭圆形，直径3-6mm。单个散生或2-5片集生，上表面淡绿至灰绿色，下表面紫绿至紫棕色，边缘整齐或微卷，上表面两侧有一小凹陷，下表面该处生有数条须根。质轻，易碎。气微，味淡。以色绿、背紫者为佳。
