为桑科榕属植物无花果的果实，其根及叶也入药。根全年可采；果、叶夏秋采，晒干用或鲜用。喜温暖湿润气候，耐瘠，抗旱，不耐寒，不耐涝。以向阳、土层深厚、疏松肥沃。排水良好的砂质壤上或粘质壤土栽培为宜。

《滇南本草》记载：“敷一切无名肿毒，痈疽疥癞癣疮，黄水疮，鱼口便毒，乳结，痘疮破烂；调芝麻油搽之。”
无花果性状
【性味】 味甘，性凉
【归经】 归肺，胃，大肠经
花托呈倒圆锥形，表面淡黄棕色至暗棕色、青黑色，有波状弯曲的纵棱线，顶端稍平截，中央有一半圆形突起，基部渐狭，带有果柄及残存的苞片。质坚硬，切断面黄白色，内壁着生从多细小瘦果，有时壁的上部尚见枯萎的雄花。瘦果卵圆形，淡黄色，外有宿萼包被。气微，味甜，略酸。
