刘寄奴概述
为菊科植物奇蒿的带花全草，夏、秋季花开时采收，连根拔起，洗净，鲜用，或晒干，打成捆备用，防夜露雨淋变黑。
常野生于低海拔至中海拔地区的山坡、树林、路旁、田边等较为阴凉的地方。

据《开宝本草》记载：“疗金疮，止血为要药；主下血、止痛。”
刘寄奴性状
【性味】 味辛，微苦，性温。
【归经】 归心，肝，脾经。
全草长60-90cm，茎圆柱形，直径2-4mm，通常弯折；表面棕黄色棕绿色，被白色毛茸，具细纵棱；质硬而脆，易折断，折断面纤维性，黄白色，中央具白色而疏松的髓。叶互生，通常干枯皱缩或脱落，展开后，完整叶片呈长卵圆形，长6-10cm，宽3-4cm，叶缘有锯齿，上面棕绿色，下面灰绿色，被白毛，叶柄短，质脆易破碎或脱落。头状花序集成穗状圆锥花序，枯黄色。气芳香，味淡。以叶绿，花穗多者为佳。
