红芪概述
为豆科植物多序岩黄芪的干燥根。因其皮色红润，故称红芪；自古与黄芪通用，但其原植物与黄芪同科不同属，中国名医陶弘景就说 ：“ 黄芪第一出陇百沈阳，色黄白，甜美，今亦难得。次用黑水宕昌者，色白肌理粗，甘而温补。色赤者可作膏贴，用消痛肿 。”
红芪各家论述
《药品化义》记载：“补气固表，利尿托毒，排脓，敛疮生肌；主气虚乏力，食少便溏，中气下陷，久泻脱肛，便血崩漏，表虚自汗，气虚水肿，痈疽难溃，血虚萎黄，内热消渴，慢性肾炎蛋白尿，糖尿病。”
红芪性状
【性味】 味甘，性温。
【归经】 归肺、脾经。
呈圆柱形，少有分枝，上端略粗，长10～50cm，直径0.6～2cm。表面灰红棕色，有纵皱纹、横长皮孔及少数支根痕，外皮易脱落，剥落处淡黄色。质硬而韧，不易折断，断面纤维性，并显粉性，皮部黄白色，木部淡黄棕色，射线放射状，形成层环浅棕色。气微，味微甜，嚼之有豆腥味。
