为马兜铃科植物杜衡和小叶马蹄香的根茎及根或全草，4～6月间采挖，洗净，晒干。

据《本草纲目》记载：“散风寒，下气消痰，行水破血，杀虫。”
杜衡性状
【性味】 味辛，性温，小毒。
【归经】 归肺，肝，肾，膀胱经。
常卷曲成团。根茎圆柱形，长约1cm，直径2-3mm，表面浅棕色或灰黄色，粗糙节间长1-9mm。表面灰白色或浅棕色，断面黄白色或类白色。叶片展平后呈宽心形肾状心形，长宽均为3-8cm，先端钝或圆，上面主脉两侧可见云斑，脉上及近叶缘有短毛。偶见花，1-2朵腋生，钟状，紫褐色。气芳香，有浓烈辛辣味，有麻舌感。
