The dried mature seed of perennial herbaceous plant Coixlacrymajobi L. var. mayuan (Roman.) stapf of family Gramineae.

薏苡仁概述(健脾渗湿 除痹止泻 清热排浓)
为禾本科植物薏苡的种仁，生于河边、溪边或阴湿山谷中，秋末果实成熟时，割取植株，晒干，打下果实，碾去外壳，除去外皮，收集种仁。
薏苡仁各家论述
《本草正》记载：“薏苡，味甘淡，气微凉，性微降而渗，故能去湿利水，以其志湿，故能利关节，除脚气，主痿弱拘挛湿痹，消水肿疼痛，利小便热淋，亦杀蛔虫。”
薏苡仁性状
【性味】 味甘、淡，性凉。
【归经】 归脾、胃、肺经。
呈宽卵形或长椭圆形，长4～8mm，宽3～6mm。表面乳白色，光滑，偶有残存的黄褐色种皮。一端钝圆，另端较宽而微凹，有1淡棕色点状种脐。背面圆凸，腹面有1条较宽而深的纵沟。质坚实，断面白色，粉性。气微，味微甜。
