为睡莲科植物莲的干燥雄蕊，夏季花开时选晴天采收，盖纸晒干或阴干。分布于我国南北各省。《本草纲目》记载：“清心通肾，固精气，乌须发，悦颜色，益血，止血崩、吐血。”

《本经逢原》记载：“莲须，清心通肾，以其味涩，故为秘涩精气之要药。”
莲须性状
【性味】 味甘、涩，性平。
【归经】 归心、肾经。
干燥雄蕊呈线状，花药长1～1.5厘米，直径约0.5毫米，多数扭转呈螺旋状，黄色或浅棕黄色，2室，纵裂，内有多数黄色花粉。花丝呈丝状而略扁，稍弯曲，长1～1.6厘米，棕黄色或棕褐色。质轻，气微香，味微涩。以干燥、完整、色淡黄、质软者为佳。
